The Germania by Roman historian Tacitus is one of the most insightful texts about the Germanic tribes during Roman times. By reading what Tacitus has to say, we are opened up to the reality of Germanic society in history. The first focal point of this publication will be looking at the way in which the Germanic people viewed adultery and other social issues regarding sexuality followed by an in-depth look into particular details within Thrymskvitha, and finally a detailed examination of the moral themes featured in the Saga of Burnt Njál from a social and spiritual context.
