Descent and Reincarnation
"It was believed, in the old days, that people were reincarnated, although this is now called old wives' tales."
The family to which a hero belonged to in Pagan times was a significant factor in one’s social position in society and was especially important for one’s legitimacy and right to rule their land. However, so too was one’s lineage and whether or not they were a reincarnation of an important ancestor. In fact, the old Norse people had words for reincarnation, such as endrborinn (“reborn”, “regenerated”) and aptrborinn (“born again”). Let’s learn about what the legendary sagas tell us about descent and reincarnation, and how can we actively apply this ancient Pagan knowledge in our lives today.
